I am currently leasing a 2016 XC90. In the first 18 months, the car required 3 new sets of breaks.

In June, 2018, the car broke down at 9:30pm the base of Yosemite National Park, leaving my children and I stranded. Problem with coolant. Had to have car flatbed towed back to Volvo Santa Monica.

Now, four months later, the car went back to Volvo Santa Monica for a check engine light AND another engine coolant problem. The service department told me that I needed a 40,000 mile check up.

I naively agreed. I agree to the check up and learn that this is NOT covered under warranty and there are only 32,000 miles on my car. They were deceptive and immoral. Also, after the 40,000 mile check up, I left the dealership only to have the car break down 3 miles later.

Coolant problem again. My car is not sitting in my driveway, not drivable. I am making lease payments and rental car payments concurrently. The estimate to have the car fixed - YET AGAIN?!

- $6,000. Not under warranty.

This dealership has ripped me off too many times. They have taken advantage of a woman who unfortunately is leasing a piece of crap car.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Monetary Loss: $6000.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Location: Van Nuys, California

The parent of Volvo is no longer a company in Sweden but China. I would not consider purchasing anything from them for that reason alone.

As for your repairs, have you tried another dealership or repair shop?

Second or third opinion might be a better option for you at this point. If you have AAA they will tow the car to an authorized repair facility.

That's the worst thing I've ever read about a Volvo. I'm always afraid of those first year models ( isn't the '16 XC90 a first year debut in this format ?

) .

I was nervous about them from Day-1 because they have both a turbo and a supercharger on a relatively small engine (for a larger vehicle like that). Underpowered and added onto usually raises engine temperature ; sounds like a design flaw ; very disappointing.
