2/10/16- Got gas and Volvo XC90/2008 would not start. Told we needed new fuel pump. Went to Chattanooga Volvo bought fuel pump-$548.01

Fuel pump installed for $600.

Drove 2 hours on highway car began losing power eventually stalled-sat a few minutes started again worked fine for awhile then lost power, seemed like downshifting and stalled again. Kept happening until finally stopped altogether.

65.00 Tow-to Birmingham Al. 109. hotel room, $310."Check Fuel pump, repaired fuel pump connection, confirmed operation.

Next day drove about 2 hours and it begin the same thing-Lost power, seemed to down shift stalled-rest a few minutes started up again fine drove a while and lost power, stalled- continued doing that all the way to Jackson Ms where we coasted into Volvo service. They decided, once again, needed a new fuel pump and fuel assembly hose=1737,89 stuck in Al a few days while they got the parts and repaired- Back on the road. Got to Ca- happened again-Volvo there could find nothing wrong.

Back on the road-began happening again-Barely made it back to Jackson Volvo where they decided it needed a Fuel pump electronic module. Another week to get the part and $646.33.

Back on the road and after 2 hours driving began doing the same thing only much worse and much more often. Finally made it home,(3-23) barely!! Took it to Knoxville Volvo place and after they had it for about a week and a half they called and told us..wait for it... we need a new fuel pump!!! In little over a month we needed to replace or repair fuel pump 7 times!!! Can this be possible?

You can understand our reluctance to replace it again!! Also rethinking our choice of next car we buy.

Anyone have any ideas what might be wrong with our car because Volvo doesn't seem to be able to figure it out!!

Reason of review: Not fixing issue and replacing same pump 3 times.

Monetary Loss: $4000.

Preferred solution: Let the company propose a solution.

Location: Louisville, Tennessee

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having an issue that appears to be fuel related and dealer replaced fuel pump and pump electronic module + fuel filter and wiring harness and it has changed nothing, car still won't start and stay running.

They've had the car a week and have engaged volvo for additional help and it's gotten nowhere. I live in Canada and had to actually leave my car 1300 miles from home and fly back home leaving my car with the dealer in Georgia because of this.
